In-City Refuge

The Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge lies along the Ennis Joslin Road toward Ward Island and overlooks Oso Bay. Enjoy a lazy afternoon hiking, biking, or watching seabirds such as pelicans, herons, egrets, spoonbills, and other endangered and threatened sea birds that make this area their home. The 800-foot boardwalk overlooks Oso Bay and the area's grassy marshes and mudflats. Considered by some to be one of the best sea bird watching areas in the world, you can visit the Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge right in your own city!

 

Arts and Culture

The oldest house at the Heritage Park and Cultural Center is more than 160 years old, with twelve other houses standing as tribute to the culture and history of the area. In the Galvan House, purchased by the first Mexican-American police officer of Corpus Christi in 1896, you'll find an exhibit of artifacts of cultural and historic significance, along with a great area for events. Surrounding the Galvan House is a replica carriage house, a courtyard with gazebo, and the Mary Elizabeth and Lee Lytton Memorial Rose Garden. Other houses in the park also represent the history of ethnic diversity and culture in the Corpus Christi area, only at the Heritage Park and Cultural center!
